Remember that post about Adam Pascal where I said I could not stage door stalk because of Covid? That was an assumption I made, and it was wrong.
Because look.
And also I went to NYC last week, and the stage door stalking opportunities varied. For instance, at Hadestown, we could not get near the stage door at all, but we could stare awkwardly at the actors coming out. So here are a few seconds of Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada.
It was similar for stage door stalking Hugh Jackman. I did not see Music Man, which is the show Hugh Jackman is in. I thought I was clever, and on Thursday night, the show started at 7. It runs about 2.5 hours, so I was at the stage door at 9:20. All the actors were totally gone! I have no idea how that happened. So on Friday night, after seeing Joshua Bell (more on that in another blog), I got to the stage door at 9pm. The show started at 8pm, so there was NO WAY I could miss Hugh Jackman. I was there first, so I was in a prime spot to stare at Hugh Jackman in all his glory. And oh, how glorious it was. He was super nice, as you can see!
Then there was Book of Mormon, which I stage door stalked for two reasons – JJ Niemann, who I follow on TikTok (and you should, too), and John Eric Parker. It was no holds barred at this stage door, it was basically up to the actors to do what they wanted. The reason I wanted to see John Eric Parker is because I first saw him in RENT in 1997, and I thought that was pretty neat, because I have pictures with him from back then. But he didn’t come out/I didn’t see him come out. But I did see JJ!
